While Many Love To Hate Frisco, The Locals Just Love It!
Good or bad, you keep hearing about Frisco, TX in the news. It seems all of DFW has their opinions, have heard "the" rumors, and watched in amazement as Frisco has drawn in one billion dollar development after another from suitors surrounding the globe.
But what's really happening? Frisco currently sits at a population just over 150,000 and when built out (by 2025 some expect) will be work and/or home to just shy of 375,000 souls. When I moved to Frisco, back in 2000, the town wasn't a third the size it is now.
It hasn't stopped growing since. So, there has to be a reason, right? Well, here's the secret... It's the people! The property tax paying residents that have worked together to drive the vision. With enough focus, energy and appropriate budgeting, IT HAS WORKED!
People that move to Frisco do so because of the perceived "living standards." New schools, endless shopping and eating options, easy access via the tollways to almost anywhere in the metroplex. These are only the eye candy that draws people in. Once you're here, you realize there's so much more.
And again, the more is our PEOPLE. We place our focus on the education of our youth, the accessibility of the goods and services that today's consumers want, and most importantly... our own, self-sustaining, economy.
We're not the destination point for travelers world-wide, but we are the place most people in the DFW area visit outside of their own city.
Why? Our market is better! Frisco has developed an elaborate economic plan not based on the resident taxpayers footing the bill, but on creating a livable and desirable destination that's great for all households. Frisco has approved residential development plans across a spectrum of product offerings. They've steered companies into our growing business parks, creating an exceptional job market. Like sports? Pro, minor, or just local teams... our high school football players get to share a field with the Dallas Cowboys! Looking for venues with events year round? Do family facilities and activities put a smile on your face?
There is ALWAYS something happening in Frisco. So when I noticed an article today titled, "Frisco adopts new tax rate for 2017," I just had to take a peek. And what do you know? The people of the City of Frisco are doing it again. How can we make this place more attractive? Let's lower the taxes a bit!
“The ultimate driver of our budget is our taxpayers,” said Mayor Maher Maso. “We get input from our citizens. The growth of our revenue has been strong because our citizens have invested in the key areas of infrastructure and public safety. It’s important to understand that the reason our taxes are so low is because we invest in our community and make it attractive to live here.” - As quoted in the article.
This is why the residents love Frisco, Texas... The people of this great city are driving the bus.
Thank you Mayor Maso, City Council, Leadership of the Frisco Economic Development Corp and all you fellow Frisco residents for investing your time and your life's work into making this the very best place to live, work and experience life. Let's keep making the right decisions and creating an ideal place any and everyone would want to call home!
Tell me... Where do you live and why?
